How'd I do it?!

Not knowing if Makenzie is my last baby, I love cuddling and rocking her before she goes to sleep. {BUT} I also love how Abby always fell asleep in her own and went right to bed, when she knew it was bed time. Chase on the other hand, gave me a calf workout...I had to bounce on my toes to get him to fall asleep {really, bounce} any other way, he wouldn't go to sleep.
So, I decided I would 'train' Kenzie how to fall asleep on her own in her cradle, and soon her crib.

She doesn't suck very hard on her Nuk, but likes it to fall asleep. It wouldn't stay in her mouth and then she would cry. I was pretty sure, if she could keep her Nuk in, we'd have it down in no time.
As much as my husband asked, "Can't we make some kind of band that can go around her head to keep it in?" I didn't respond with anything but..."that might get child protection services at our door."

Then I was putting away laundry and got an idea.....

Most of you are thinking...{great...Kelly's dingy socks}, but really, this could work....
If I can lean these sock up against her Nuk, until she falls asleep, and then come take them away, it would fix my problem...{Right?!}

PROBLEM SOLVED!

I am a genius! {or so I think}
She falls right asleep with the help of this toy...

10 minutes of programed music (that I picked) and she is in LA LA LAND!
(I love this music dog! You can program you child's name in it, their favorites and it talks to them)
I can still rock her if we aren't at home or if I just need some extra snuggle time, but she hasn't let me down yet. What a success!

(I can't guarantee this will work for everyone, I just wanted to share my success!)

That's too funny, I even shared your post with a co-worker because it really made me laugh. I'm glad you came up with a good way to keep that Nuk in. :)

Good thinking!! I had to play Baby Einstein symphonies for Charli Beth whenever she was an infant to get her to fall asleep! I loved it myself too =)

That's brilliant! We swaddled the blanket up against the binky a few times. sshhhh, don't tell anyone :D
There's something like that on the market for the green soothie binkies so you should totally make one for other brands!! :D

You really are the best and smartest mom ever. We used a nasal aspirator to do the same thing. :)
